Leafs Look Ready For Season Written by StajanFan - November 30th, -0001

After what was seemed a daunting and ever-unforgiving task, GM StajanFan made a huge announcement after last season's playoffs concluded.

" I know this is arguably the toughest challenge today in the CMHL, but I am up to the challenge. Toronto has been bad for far too long, and with Chicago's future set for the years with Crosby and Ovechkin, I felt rebuilding the Maple Leafs franchise was a priority. It was always a dream of mine as a kid to be the GM of this team, and my dream has come true. It's now reality, and I have a lot of work to do."

The new Leafs GM resigned from Chicago, known as one of the top teams with a bright future, which including three of the top players in CMHL in Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, and Lidstrom. From Chicago to Toronto, he took on the task of managing the worst team in the league the previous season. The team he was handed was not only the worst team in the league, but he had no first round pick to deal with, meaning no Stamkos either. The team was aging, with the vast majority of players well over 30 years old, and something needed to done fast.

Luongo set for season

The offseason would not seem long enough, as StajanFan made trade after trade, slowly building the team piece by piece. His first major move was acquiring top goaltender Roberto Luongo, sending shockwaves around the league. Suddenly the Eastern Conference and the entire league knew first hand what they were witnessing was all too real, and quickly Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Montreal, New Jersey and Pittsburgh started to react accordingly.

Making deals like a madman, StajanFan was slowly but surely building a team capable of competing in the improved Eastern Conference. Major players he has added include the aforementioned Luongo, Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Glen Murray, Dainius Zubrus, Bryan McCabe, Pavel Kubina, Kimmo Timonen, Lubomir Visnovsky, Josef Melichar, Darryl Sydor, and Jaroslav Modry. He has also been able to add many high level prospects, which include Jordan Eberle, Tobias Stephan, Antti Pihlstrom, Ville Leino, Steven Zalewski, Alexander Nikulin, Jordan Hendry, Corey Potter, Mike Lundin, and more.

Now having put his place on the team, StajanFan and the Leafs feel making the playoffs should be a real possibility despite many other Eastern teams improving as well. Training camp and preseason is just a couple weeks away, but the organization is more than ready and looks to have set their lineup in stone, with possible open competitions for the fourth line roles and the defence position.

Here is the potential lineup for the 2008/09 Toronto Maple Leafs.

Daniel Sedin --- Henrik Sedin --- Alex Steen
Dainius Zubrus -- Jordan Eberle -- Glen Murray
Quintin Laing --- Kamil Kreps --- Jason Ward
