Rafalski traded for BARKER Written by tetreault29 - November 30th, -0001

The Philadelphia Flyers traded their best offensive defenceman to the Coyotes for younger and stronger Cameron Barker.

What pushed gm tetreault to trade Rafalski away?

The reason why it was time to trade him away was his salary value over the offence production so far in the season.   We felt that Souray can accomplish the work as a quarterback alone with a strong defenceman who can play well in his zone as well on the powerplay.  His age of 23 is relevant to his future accomplishment on the team for a long period of time.  With the uncertainty of Mezei playing in the NHL next season we felt we had a hole to fill and since no real premium propspect is in our organization on defence we felt it was the perfect timing to make this move.

Gm tetreault had a eye on this guy for about a month and when we heard he was available it was the right opportunity to get him.  It certainly solidifies our defence but hey we are not scoring many goals therefore we might as well play well defensively.

Our next goal is to find strenght players that can play on our 1st 2 lines.  Players such as blake and roenick are available.

It could be the trade that will turn this hockey club around for a playoff spot.
