Thomas has found his game! Written by Laci Bloomers - November 21st, 2008
Tim ThomasEarly in the season goaltender Tim Thomas was much maligned for the quality of his play between the Tampa Bay goal pipes.

He wasn't alone.  After all, the Bolts looked pathetic in the early going.  However, considering Thomas was expected to step in and be a premier goaltender in the CMHL this season, he was certainly under the microscope.

It would appear that Thomas, and coincidently the Tampa Bay Lightning, have found their game.

Thomas ran his shutout streak to 139:34 today as the Bolts blanked the Atlanta Thrashers 1-0.  The shutout streak has vaulted Thomas into 2nd in the CMHL with a 2.20 goals against average, down over a goal per game since the Lightning General Manager publically called out his team just a couple of weeks ago.

Thomas hasn't just been keeping pucks out of the net.  In today's game, his stretch pass to Mike Modano set Modano and Scott Walker on a 2 on 1 with just under 4 and a half minutes remaining in regulation.  Modano faked, flipped to Walker, who scored the game's only goal, his 6th of the season.

For Thomas, it ran his point scoring streak to 2 games, matching his streak of consecutive shutouts.

The win gives the Lightning 19 points moving them within 2 points of the lead in the tight Southeast Division.  The team has suffered just one defeat in the past 7 games, including a modest 3-game win streak.  In those 7 games, Thomas has allowed more than 2 goals only once.  As well, the club in front of him has recaptured the defensive style of play that they became known for last season.  Coach Randy Carlyle praised the club for buying in to the program.

The Bolts are in Anaheim Tuesday to play the Ducks.
