Coyotes on the Rise! Written by Gerv - December 19th, 2008

Yann Danis who struggled as a Shark and spelling Fleury on some nights struggled as well. However the veteran back up as stepped up his game since Fleury went down with a toe injury.

Phoenix, Arizona -- When Fleury went down some people around the organization felt the team would struggle to win. However the back up goalie Danis as shown that he can be counted on when the pressure is on. The fine back up currently owns a 4 game winning streak with a .944 save percentage and allowing 5 goals in 3 starts and the game he finished for injured Fleury. Jacques Martin was stated: "We always believed in his abilities, he just was struggling with rebounds and the confidence was just not there. But it seems he really as stepped up and really relishes the fact that the pressure is on him to lead this club."

The winning streak also can be look at from the move that Larouche pulled a few days ago when the let Vermette and Michalek go to the Washington Capitals for Dustin Brown and future star Kyle Turris. Many fans felt that the club had given the chance at making the playoffs, but so far some players who were stuck playing on a third line and were struggling, are now playing on the second line. Danis as been a big help but we can also look at Alexei Ponikarovsky who currently as 2 goals and 3 helpers since being bumped up to second line duty along with Stajan who as also put up 2 points in the 3 games and added a +4 during that span. The player who seems to have most benefited from that move is Jason Pominville who is currently leading the club with 31 points. He currently as 1 goal and 5 assists to his credits in the last 3 games. Another player who can be looked at is Freddy Meyer who as added a lot of flying millage between the ICHF team and the Coyotes this season. He currently as been on fire adding 1 goal and 3 helpers in that 3 game span.

The team now heads their separate ways for the holidays for the next week. The team will again get together but once back on the ice will have one of their toughest test this year when they run into the Chicago Blackhawks where league leading Joe Thornton and league leading scoring machine Alex Ovechkin who started his great career in Phoenix.

In the mean time Larouche made it clear that the club is still looking to make some changes, what those changes are is not cleared but there are rumors floating that franchise goalie Marc-Andre Fleury could be moved and that some other players could be moved. Larouche or the club would not comment on the rumors and wished their fans happy and safe holidays.
