Two New Faces... Written by Matsson - December 22nd, 2008
After intensive talks with the Islanders (Moll), GM Matsson had this to say at a press conference "I think Ozzy has done well for us this year with 3 shutouts (5 on the year so far)... We just can't help but to think adding a player of this calibur can only help him, and the organization out."

Saint Paul, Minnesota After intensive talks with the Islanders (Moll), GM Matsson had this to say at a press conference "I think Ozzy has done well for us this year with 3 shutouts (5 on the year so far)... We just can't help but to think adding a player of this calibur can only help him, and the organization out." In a stunning move GM Matsson moved one of his most prized possessions in hulking Dman Jeff Schultz, and one of the best power forwards in the game (Tkachuk) to the Islanders. Heading the other way is a little smaller man, but none less skilled Daymond Langkow, and hard hitting Wade Redden. "Redden gives us more hits (100) from the back end, paired with Foote (93 hits) opposing forwards are going to think twice before staying infront of our net" Said Matsson " I just can't say enough about Redden, and what he will bring to this club THIS season, and next" "Daymond has been struggling with New York this seaon, and we all hope a change of scenery is just what is needed for him to turn things around." Matsson was quoted as saying "Daymond has simular touch to Tkachuk infront of the net, but takes way less penalties, and therefore should stay on the ice more and produce" said Matsson "... with Bertuzzi, and Svatos (fresh off his 3 assist night), Langkow should have no problems puting pucks in the net" I personally think that the Wild over paid, I mean Schultz was the face of the franchise, and Tkachuk was a shoe in for the All Star game. Redden does hit quite well, but he is in the box just as much as he's on the ice, and Langkow can't set up Bert, or Svatos as well as Tkachuk. I hope I'm wrong, and I guess only time will tell who got the better of this deal. The Wild, or Islanders. Either way GM Matsson sure does know how to make things exciting her in town.
