Jovo ready to roll Written by Laci Bloomers - March 25th, 2009

For the record, Ed Jovonvovski is delighted to be in Tampa Bay.  Part of a 2009 Trade Deadline deal that brought the 32 year old blueliner to the Lightning from Phoenix, 'Jovo' likes the veteran presence of this team, and looks forward to helping carry it in to the post season.

Jovonovski adds a #1 defenseman to a club that has performed admirably well defensively all season.  He has the ability to move the puck, and is tough as nails in his own end.

Jovonovski did not make the trek from the desert on his own.  The Lightning and Coyotes completed the biggest trade at the deadline, a trade that was days in the making.

Playmaking forward Alex Tanguay come in with big shoes to fill, as he will replace Jere Lehtinen on the roster.  Freddie Sjostrom makes his return to the Lightning as well, and he will slide in to a checking role for the time being.

The trio will make their debuts tomorrow night when the club takes on the New York Islanders.  The Islanders currently trail the 8th place Bolts by a single point in the chlostrophobic Eastern Conference playoff race, although the Lightning have games in hand.  Tampa Bay won their only other meeting this season, 3-1.

With the standings being as tight as they are (a win pulls the Lightning into 5th place) these veterans will have to step in and make themselves noticed immediately.

It will be interesting to see how they do in their debuts.
