Pittsburgh Gm faces off with season ticket holders.

This past weekend the Penguins held there annual breakfast with the gm. Season ticket holders were invited to sit down with gm Spicy McHaggis owner Mario Lemieux and coach Todd McLellan for breakfast and a round of questions. The following are highlights form the discussion they had with the fans.

Mike from Pitt; This question is for Spicy, for the past three years we have missed the playoffs, and it seems were going no where! How do you plan on turning this around?

Spicy: Well obviously we always want to make the playoffs, and this year we put a lot of effort into trying to make it. Unfortunately we stumbled again and were not going to the playoffs……..again. I’m not happy about it, Todd’s not happy about it and Mario is not happy about it. All three of us have discussed the future of this franchise and we have decided to “rebuild”. That’s a bad word to say in front of fans but we all agree we have to start all over and build this team right.

Jenny from Pitt: This is for Mario, is there going to finally be a change in the front office this year?

Mario; Look we’re all frustrated, and we all want to be a top team in the CMHL. But I be leave in Spicy and will stand behind him. NO FRONT OFFICE CAHNGES ARE EXPECTED!

Bryan from Schently Hights; Spicy you say you want to “start over and rebuild this team right” who do you plan on rebuilding around and who do plan on moving?

Well I have to be careful on how I answer that, I can’t really say I’m going to trade anyone because you don’t know what will be offered or if someone will even be interested in said player. But the three of us have sat down with players and have told them our plans for the future. They know where we stand and explained our situation to them and we have gotten tremendous support from them.

Bryan; So guy’s like Parise and Sharp are part of the future?

Spicy; Honestly I have no plans on moving those two and I think you can put Bouchard on that list. Now I have had two incredible offers on Parise but he’s to important to this franchise to move. Sharpie on the other hand may be a different story, we would love to hold on to him but he will be a RFA this summer and we have to match any offer made to him. He knows were going to do our best to bring him back but there is a chance we will lose him.

Stacy from Point Breeze; Spicy for the lack of success in Pitt, Manchester has given us hope. Do you think we’ll see any of those players on the big roster next year?

Spicy; Manchester has been a bright spot for our organization and the coaching staff is doing a great job down there. But in a since the time it’s taking to get those players to the pros is taking a long time. We are not running out of patience with them but we need them to reach that next level. Guy’s like Patrick O’Sullivan and Ryan Sutter need to reach a higher level and make the team. Those two guys I want them to force our hands in making the pro team next year, and they know I’m not afraid to move them or keep them in Manchester. And if you look at our prospects pool you’ll see there is competition coming in Moller and Simmonds so they need to raise their level of play.

Stacy; What about the goalies?

Spicy; Both are where I thought they would be at this point. Ersbergh is playing really well and may make the squad; Bernier is also doing very well but still needs a season in the minors. But we’ll see both of them soon enough.

Part two will be up shortly
