Round 2 Fight! Written by Ludo - May 20th, 2009

The Sabres passed through the Flyeers after a desperate performance from team captain Saku Koivu who scored 4 and assisted 1.

The little viking scored in OT in front of a pumped up crowd who couldn't ask for more.

BUFFALO - While the Philadelphia Flyers seemed content with playing overtime, the Buffalo Sabres had other plans.

Saku Koivu’s goal with 33 seconds into the first OT period lifted Buffalo to a 6-5 victory over the Flyers on Wednesday.

“We really played a tremendous game,” Sabres coach Bob Hartley said. “We gave up scoring chances because maybe we were a little too aggressive but that same aggressiveness won us a game.”

Some negatives still show up in front of the net, where Nabokov had another rough night. Outshooting the flyers 37-21, the game would have been a lot smoother with only a decent performance from their star goaltender. The door might still be open for back up Curtis McElhinney to step in if need be...
