New look Pens for season 6 Written by Spicy McHaggis - September 6th, 2009

A look into Pitt's off season

With another dreadful season behind them the Pens went into the off season looking to upgrade their roster and not just add to it. This time last year Pitt went out and signed a handful of players in which only two remained with the team, this year Pitt went out and picked up players that Spicy McHaggis be leaves will be different makers. "I like the make up of our team this year" said Spicy "our defensive core is better then it has been in the past and i like our stable of goalies."

New to the Pen's this season:

Evgeni Nabokov: #1 goalie was a priority for Pitt this off season and zeroed in on Nabby right before UFA's. With Nabby we get a top goaltender in the CMHL and someone that will help solidify the back end.

Rob Blake: After adding Nabby Pitt looked for a top defense man, something they haven't had since Spicy took over. After being turned away on a couple of trade offers Spicy zeroed in on this seasoned vet who had his best season in Pitt, hopefully they rediscover that magic.

Bill Guerin: This feisty vet brings a lot of leadership grit and play making ability's to the top line of Pitt.

Joe Pavelski : Out of all players added no one got the front office as excited as this kid. Joe is still very young but continues to improve, he looks like the answer of second line center Pitt has been in need of.

Ron Hainsey: Hainsey play making skills on the back end will help the pp as he looks to fill a top 4 role.

Brooks Orpik: Brooks has been Pitt's property for over a year now but after spending a season in Manchester he looke to be Pitt's top defensive defense men.

Brent Burns : Brent is a good young defense man that Pitt has a lot of hope for. Were not sure if he will be in Pitt or Manchester this year but were sure one day he'll be the go to guy on the Pen's.

Fabian Brunnstrom : After signing with Pitt last off season Fabian will be getting 2nd line mins along with Joe Pavelski.

With the additions to Pitt's roster it's unclear if the Pens are set for their first playoff appearance under Spicy McHaggis it is clear they are tired of being lumped in the bottom 5 of the CMHL.
