Avs welcome Ellis to the fold Written by Seymour Butz - September 14th, 2009
It has been months in the making, but the Avalanche have finally landed their man.

After the summer blockbuster that brought Daniel Briere, Craig Rivet and Martin Gerber to the Mile High City there was optimism in the air. Then Gerber announced he was signing a more lucrative deal to play in the dreaded KHL in Russia. Suddenly the Avs were without a goalie. My how things have changed.

In a summer of change for the Avalanche, the Avs now have possibly the best tandem in the league with the announcement today that they have acquired goalie Dan Ellis from LA. The trade sees them part with highly regarded prospect Jason Demers and a couple of future draft picks. Kings GM Anthony felt this was a fair make up for the fact Gerber had bolted.

"I really commend Anthony for these talks, he felt terrible about the Gerber deal and wanted to make amends. This gives us Huet and Ellis and I feel we don't have a number 1 goalie we have a 1 and 1A" Commented Avs GM Sentinel20. ":I spoke with Dan(Ellis) this morning and he is ecstatic to be leaving LA LA land."

This now gives the team amazing depth in the organization in goal with Huet and Ellis on the big club and Ben Bishop with Wade Dubieliwicz and Anton Khubodin. The team went from having no goalies to having too many, and it is a nice problem to have indeed.
