West is Best in ICHF All-Star Game Written by habsfan93 - January 23rd, 2010

In what turned out to be more reminiscent of a playoff game, the ICHF All-Star game got intense while the West proved the victor in a 5-2 thumping of the East on Saturday.

Cory Murphy, who has been dominant all season long for the Grand Rapids Griffins, didn't let up here as he led the way with 3 assists and was named the Game's MVP. Jannik Hansen of the Manitoba Moose and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond of the Notre-Dame Fighting Irish were also named stars of the game.

Although past All-Star games have been known to be lighthearted affairs, there was nothing but animosity on the ice in this one, as Jannik Hansen and David Clarkson scrapped to the start the second period. Eight more penalties were recorded before the buzzer rang.

The game was located in Kelowna, BC, as the Kelowna Rockets won the lottery and the right to host the game, along with a $5,000,000 cash injection to their parent club, the Edmonton Oilers.
