With time running out on this season of hockey the Red Wings are in prime position to make a last minute push to get into the postseason. The Wings are tied the Leafs in least amount of games played this season with 75,while most others have played 77 or 78.This means that the Wings have the potential to gain more points than other teams in front of them in the standings.

However with only 10 days left in the season,it means that both teams have alot of hockey to play in a short time. The Wings have 8 straight gamedays, followed by 2(or more) days of rest, with just 2 of those games at home. They start with a home and home series against Toronto, the best team in the league, followed by 2 games in 3 days against the Vancouver Canucks, who are just ahead of the Wings in the Standings.

The team has improved their overall play, but hasn't had a record to reflect that, going 4-6-1 since the deadline.Guite has helped form a much more solid 4th line with Stephane Yelle, and Darren McCarty.,Whereas Holmstrom and Huselius have contributed on the 2nd line with Jason Williams.Mika Pyorala was a -3 and had 2 pim in 13 minutes played against the Atlanta Thrashers in place of Quinton Laing, and has not played since.
