Captain Vacated! Written by Gerv - July 25th, 2010

Patrick Marleau who captained the Phoenix Coyotes in Season 6 now will be sporting a new uniform.

Patrick Marleau    Patrick Sharp       Oscar Moller

The players involved in the Penguins and Coyotes deal.

Patrick became the latest victim of the poor playoff performance for the Coyotes. Larouche stated he would make changes after their club faltered in the second half with 12 loses in a row. Marleau joins Marc-Andre Fleury, Derek Roy and rookie Jamie McBain who were traded earlier for star forward
Alexander Ovechkin.

Marleau will now apply is trade in the East were he will suit up for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Marleau knew his days were numbered when his name popped up in rumors and was also approached by the club to let him know that if the right offer came he would be moved. Marleau was not available for comment
but GM Goph did mention he was very happy with bringing in such a top perform to replace some pieces when they lost star goalie Nabokov and all-star defenseman Rob Blake to retirement and Nabbby to the Russian KHL.

The new look Coyotes acquired a favorite from the Penguins in Patrick Sharp, along with young upcoming Oscar Moller who just signed a rookie contract with the club and a second round pick in 2011. Larouche stated that Sharp would either line up at center on the first line or possibly on the wing to play top
6 minutes. Sharp who pumped in 66 points will be counted to do the things he did in Pittsburgh which was two way hockey. With Sharp getting top 6 time he could get the chance to play with Mr. Phoenix who counted 116 points or a rejuvenated Martin St. Louis who is coming off a 65 point output but seems to be in great shape for such an older star. Many predict that St. Louis could get back to his former 90 point years.

Larouche also made it clear that the clean up was not completed just yet. He made it clear that is priority right now is landing another top notch center to play on the first two lines and that the defense will be revamped before the new coach is hired.

Looking at the roster right that we are looking at that is settled.
