Playoff bound? Written by Matsson - October 23rd, 2010

St. Paul, Minnesota

Fans around the league, and here at home have been talking. No, not that the Wild have missed the playoffs for the last 3 seasons, but this time that the Wild COULD make the playoffs this season.

After 5 games into just the pre-season we can get a glimpse into how potent the team could be this season. Leading the team (and league) with 5 goals, and 3 helpers all in what will be is 1st full season with the team is Matt Stajan.

"Matt came into camp in the best shape of his life, and he is determined to help this team win." Said GM Matsson.

The 179 goals scored as a team last season was 3rd worst in the league, and after the 5 game mark in the pre-season the Wild sit 1st in the west, and 2nd overall in terms of goals scored. Quite the turn around.

The list of players puting up point so far are all fairly new to the team (having played half a season or less last year). So the off season moves GM Matsson have made are paying off with dividends.

The offence is lead by (Stajan), Tanguay (5pts in 5 games), Lecavalier (4pts in 5 games, and Benoit Pouliot (3 pts in 5 games.

Newcomers on the blueline are getting into the action too. Jay Bouwmeester (4pts in 5 games), Bryan Rodney (4pts in 5 games), and a resigned Woywitka (4 pts in 5 games) are all consistantly performing.

"It's tough to say how far we could go, but I would like to think that we will make the dance for sure this season" said Matsson. "That is our number one goal".

It is without a doubt a marker that this reporter sees as becoming a reality.
