Hot streak continues in Denver Written by Seymour Buttz - December 4th, 2010

The Colorado Avalanche have won 7 games in a row for the first time in franchise history. Can this streak continue?

When this season started Colorado GM Sentinel20 had high hopes for his team, even predicting a finish among the top teams in the league. At the time the prediction seemed premature, but with this current roll the Avalanche are on, it may prove to be extremely accurate.

"I dont want to read too much into it obviously" Said head coach Paul Maurice. "Right now we are talking about a 7 game winning streak where nxt month we may be talking about a 7 game losing streak, I am very proud of the team and what they have accomplished thus far, but i dont want to get too high on a win streak or too low on a downward streak. Its a long season, and there are peaks and valleys, right now everything is going well for us."

The Avalanche dont sport any real superstar players, so most of this is being done by committee so far. All for lines are rolling and both JS Giguere and Josh Harding are exhibiting stellar goaltending.

"Right now we are working hard and doing the little things right. Im very happy with our progression to this point. We still have work to do, whether we are winning 7 straight or 70 straight there is still room for improvement and i am always looking for that next angle to help us along" said Sentinel20

The Avalanche have been a cellar dweller for the past 3 seasons, and it seemed the rebuild would take forever, but a couple of shrewd free agent signings in Teemu Selanne and Tomas Holmstrom helped to solidify a core group that the team was able to build around. Currently sitting in second place in the West behind only Anaheim, the Avs have two key game scoming up against their biggest competition in back to back games against the Edmonton Oilers who are right at their heals.

"The next two games will really prove what these guys are made of"Says Maurice. "Its one thing to beat the teams you should beat, but Edmonton are very good, and to be able to knock tem off would be the true test of our character"
