Feeling the Heat Written by Habs4Life - December 12th, 2010

Could Jeff Carter be the new breed to the Coyotes?

Phoenix, Arizona

The Phoenix Coyotes made another move in order to try to add scoring to a team lacking scoring. Jeff Carter who was on the gm's list for many years is being counted on to bring some help to a struggling club. Carter himself as struggled so far this season after putting up 89 points with New Jersey last season. "I was a little surprised to be on the move again, makes it real tough but it's part of the business. I am just hoping I can turn things around. I just need to simplify things and with a chance of playing with Ovechkin could be the right thing to come into." Carter stated by cell phone.

Along with Carter, the Phoenix Coyotes also acquired Sami Lepisto and prospect defenseman Justin Holl. The cost you ask? The Coyotes shipped Stewart who was not able to provide the secondary scoring that was needed and the big surprise was that the clubs second scoring player Niklas Kronwall was shipped in the deal. "We loved what Nik brought to the table every night, however we needed to sacrifice a player on the backend to acquire Carter. We like the fact Carter can play wing or center. Allows us some flexibility and with Cammalleri and Bourque still struggling we could see more moves come within the next few days." Larouche stated from the office.

Some around the league feel the club is heading in the wrong direction, some even say that it could be time for Larouche to look at stepping down. Some say he may no longer be able to handle the riggors of being a general manager. Should he retire or could he be fired? These are question only the club owners could answer and yet they prefer not so say anything and refuse to talk about the clubs future.

Larouche maybe feeling the heat and that could be why so many players have been mentioned in trade rumors. Struggling star players like Anze Kopitar who seems lost out there and just simply looks like he does not look comfortable playing under Richards. One thing is clear, he is not the only player struggling under the new coach. Mike Cammalleri, Rene Bourque, TJ Galiardi, Ryan Callahan along with Bieksa are players that just have yet to figure out the system.

Time will tell but we all know that something as to give, either the players will have to rally or there could be some heads roll once the week ends.
