West Takes the Cake in ICHF All-Star Game Written by habsfan93 - January 29th, 2011

In what turned out to be a goaltending showdown, the West came out on top of the East by a final score of 3-1 in the Season 7 ICHF All-Star Game.

Nick Foligno of the Abbotsford Heat took the game's MVP honours after scoring 2 power play goals, including the game winner. Kyle Turris of the San Antonia Rampage and Vladimir Mihalik of the Hershey Bears scored the other goals and were named stars of the game alongside Foligno.

After taking a 1-0 lead almost to the end of the second period, the East got cocky and started playing a little scrappy. Kris Letang of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish repaid his fans who voted him in as a starter by taking 3 penalties in the game, while Dustin Byfuglien of the Hamilton Bulldogs, also voted in, took a penalty that led to the game winning goal.

But this was about goaltending, and Al Montoya of the Grand Rapids Griffins was the best goalie on the night, stopping all 15 shots the East put on him in the second period, and picking up the win. Jason Bacashihua of the Milwaukee Admirals and Corey Crawford of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers also stopped everything that came their way. Ben Bishop of the Whelan Bay Bombers took the loss for the 2 goals he allowed in the second period.
