Jets ink Mason long term Written by Nomis Dleah - August 20th, 2011
One of the biggest obstacles facing the franchise has been settled.

The Winnipeg Jets took care of some important business Saturday night when they announced the signing of goaltender Steve Mason to a 3 year contract worth $4.8M per season. The signing was one of the major obstacles facing GM Heald this off-season, the other being forward Daniel Sedin.

"With this deal we have secured stability in the goaltending position and look forward to putting a strong lineup in front of Steve for the coming season. Obviously there is still work to be done, some hard decisions that will have to be made but this signing today gives us some cost certainty for 3 years and we are very happy" Heald said at the evening news conference.

In other RFA related news, Andrej Sekera is hoping to hit a home run, Mason Raymond believes he is a superstar, Ben Ferriero thinks he has pro skills and Shawn Belle is out to lunch.
