Anatamy of a Rebuild Written by Flo Rida - November 1st, 2011

Part 1 or an 82 part exposee. Join us as we follow a team after the completion of a three year rebuild. Players will be given every chance to make an impact on this team and if they falter they could find themselves demoted and replaced by another hungrier player. Watch as chemistry is formed, bonds are broken and tempers erupt in what is a highly motivated team where the winners are guarenteed a job in the Pro's while the losers are sent packing.

Game one in the books and off to a great start. This new thing called Winning is going to take some getting used to by players, coaches and GM's alike.

Game one was far from perfect with the Panthers getting out shot 50-15 but Lundqvist was able to survive the onslaught and come away with a remarkable .960 save percentage to start the season.

This could have been a disastrous start to the season as Coach Carboneau had an glaring error on his line up sheet. He had penciled in Whitney as both the 1st and 3rd line positions. Leaving franchise player Taylor Hall to power play duty. Six minutes of ice time for one of your top picks and the future of your left wing is not a minor mistake to make. But Carboneau has been with us for the hard part of the rebuilding process so he is going to have every opportunity to reap in the rewards.

The big surprise of the game was the play of Bobby Butler on the second line. Butler was actually slated to start the season on the farm after only appearing in two preseason games. We felt since we spent the money to have him rerated during the off season we better see what the kid could do. He did not disappoint scoring a hat trick in the first game, chasing Ryan Miller from the net early in the third and securing himself as the number one star of the game. It's obvious that all the trade rumours involving Butler have actually motivated and not hindered him.

The defense was adequate but was expected to be more offensive then physical. Redden, Walker and Hamrlik combined for 19 hits, 7 more then the entire Jackets team. We are definitely going to have to tweak the defense a little bit because we can't continue to let Hank face 40 or 50 shots every game.

Changes for Next Game:
Hall to play 1st LW
Hedman to 2nd D pairing
Walker or Redden to 3rd pairing (game time decision)

Farm Update:
4-1 Win over MODO
Seguin with 3pt night
Tyler Kennedy injured
Chris Doyle puts Zach Hamill on long term injury list with devastating hit.
