Anatomy of a Rebuild Written by Flo Rida - November 7th, 2011

Part 4 of 82

A few firsts were achieved tonight in our win over the Hurricanes. Victor Hedman got his first CMHL goal and Taylor Hall got into his first fight. But when you end up in a draw with Mike Ribiero, I’m not really sure you can call that a fight.

We are quite happy with the offense we are getting as we have three lines that are contributing. The first line of Hall Couture and Giroux combined for 4 points while the second line of Stepan Butler and Bailey tallied 3 points. Our third line, Gagner Wheeler and Whitney chipped in with 5 points.

However we need to find a way to tighten things up on defense. Even though we didn’t have one minus player we still let in 4 goals. When a team is having a hard time keeping goals out of their own net, it’s not wise for the starting goalie to take a slashing penalty. And even less smart for the coach to have Lidstrom serve the minor. We paid a handsome sum to bring in Lidstrom and Lundqvist and we aren’t happy paying them to take and serve penalties.

I think for next game we are going to break up the pairing of Hamrlik and Lidstrom. Not sure what my pairing will be but look for a young guy to play with each of these vets.
