Anatomy of a Rebuild Written by Flo Rida - November 24th, 2011

Part 14 and 15

Even though we didn't win both games we are quite pleased with how the team played. Washington beat us at home 5-2 only a few days ago. So to go into their building and take them to Overtime is a vast improvement. Then, the very next day we shut out the the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0.

More importantly, what we see over the course of these two games is some production from the top two lines. In the first game we got goals from Taylor Hall and Claude Giroux. While on the back end Redden and Hedman continue to chip in with a point each. Logan Couture had one assist and finally put an end to the seven game pointless streak he was riding.

We made the right decision going with Rask in net, he has always done well against the Capitals and this was no exception. He stopped 38 of 41 shots and ended with a respectable .927 save percentage.

Since we were happy with this OTL, you can believe that we are thrilled with our 4-0 win over the Hurricanes the very next day. This was the young guys time to shine! Hall got another goal for his 8th of the season, Bailey netted his 5th and 6th. And look who showed up, again! With the pointless streak behind him, Couture has started a two game points streak, collecting 3 assists in this game. That is half his seasons production in the last two games. Hopefully he is just a slow starter and continues to put up the points. Even the young guy did great in the net getting this team their first shutout of the year. Rask has now stopped 70 of his last 73 shots and has a 2.07 GAA on the season.

Changes for next game:

Lundqvist to get the start

No changes to lineup

Farm notes:

3 game winning streak

Shut out same night as Pro team.
