S8 All-Star Game - February 6th Written by CMHL Commissioner - January 22nd, 2012
RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.. Home of the 2011-12 CMHL All-Star Game

The 2011-12 S8 CMHL All-Star Game, being played at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina is coming quickly.

The contest, which will feature the season's biggest stars in the CMHL, will be played February 6th.

The ICHF All-Stars will show off their skills earlier thae same day.

The CMHL features the two GMs who lead their respective Conferences as the coaches their respective team of All-Stars, with the other Division leading GMs being honorary Assistant Coaches.

The West will see a new All-Star coach this season, as last season's coach Sasha Tuma currently sees his Anaheim Ducks sitting 3rd in the Conference after a slow start this season. With just over two weeks until the mid-season classic, the Western Conference has no less than 4 GMs battling for that top spot by the break. Only two points separate St. Louis, Vancouver, Chicago and Edmonton atop the Conference.

In the East, Tampa bay GM Dave Normoyle is looking to take the reigns again as his club currently holds the top spot in the CMHL. Washington GM Marty Leech and Buffalo GM Jeremy Collins are also in the running, most noticeably the Capitals who are tied for top spot in points and have just made a trade that could make them even better.

Fans in Carolina are looking to see their local heroes play. After a slow start, the Hurricanes have made a run up the standings. They currently sit 5th in the Conference, although they are in the same division as both Tampa Bay and Washington, both of whom they trail by 8 points in the standings. Still, fans in Raleigh should get to see Mike Richards, currently second in the CMHL in scoring, and possibly Ryane Clowe, Tom Poti or long-shot goaltender Marty Biron, who is 15-4-2 this season.

The ICHF All-Star Game will be hosted by the Lake Erie Monsters, and will be played earlier the same day.

S8 All-Star festivities are as follows:

Week of January 23rd - All-Star ballots will be posted on the website for voting. Next weekend the starting line-ups are expected to be announced as voted by the CMHL GMs.

February 4th - S8 All-Star line-ups will be announced as provided to the Commissioner by the All-Star Coaches.

February 6th - Game previews, one for each Conference, (authored by the LOs), wil be posted on this All Star Game thread in the morning, with an open forum for GMs to comment;

February 7th - ICHF and CMHL All-Star Game results will be posted in the morning;

February 8th - Rest day will be Simmed, and the Regular Season resumes.
