Devils Pleasant Re-rate Surprises Written by Jeff Roberts - March 9th, 2022

It's about that time of year where I begin to look to next season, specifically what ratings my current players will have for next season, using the formulas found here: https://cmhlrangers.proboards.com/thread/23491/season-14-final-rerate-formulas. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any changes.

It's been no secret that Nic Dowd has been vastly out performing him current 74PA and 72SC ratings, with 16 goals and 28 assists in 48 games played. Dowd has been getting big minutes due to his production, and with his great DF ratings, is a no brainer for our top line. Dowd is on pace for a CMHL rerate of 87PA and 79SC and with one year left on his contract after this season at 990K, he will be a key part of next years success (If any is had).

What took be a bit too long to notice, is the NHL production of Mason Marchment. He's been up in the CMHL, and has already played 20 games, so a token will need to be used for an NHL re-rerate. It was not until his 6 point game that I began to take notice. He was signed as an undrafted UFA, as a I had my eyes on him when he was with the Marlies a few years ago, but I had only invisioned him as a warm body that may be able to play on my 4th line. He's since been traded to the Panthers and and has 13 goals, 21 assists in 31 games played this season. He will be well worth a token as he is on pace for 89PA and 84SC. He has 2 more years after this one at 950K.

I do not foresee either of these guys being moved, as they'll likely be in my top 6 next year, and their low cap hits will allow me to spend some money to improve the team elseware. Offers will not be ignored, but I can't see why I would move them now.

I am currently planning to give another NHL re-rate to Mitch Marner, who is on pace for a CMHL re-rate of 81PA and 87SC, but an NHL re-rate of 97PA and 87SC. He has 1 year left after this one at 3.8M, which is not as much of a bargain as Dowd and Marchment, but is still a value contract.

I am fully aware that production of the 3 players mentioned will cause thier seasons to tank, as I have likely jinxed myself with simply typing these words.

Nice! To my knowledge, the formulas haven't changed significantly, so it should at least give you a pretty solid ballpark. Written By: habsfan93 (2022-03-09 21:05:53)
