A new dawn in Sunrise Florida Written by William - April 29th, 2022

Let's take a look at the last months worth of transactions made out of sunrise

Post deadline season roundup

After letting the dust settle in Florida it’s now time to look at the deals made in sunrise.

On the outs

Beloved fan favourite in his short tenure with the panthers, Oliver Bjorkstrand has been traded along with Brandon Carlo and Michael bunting to Boston for the super dynamic Troy Terry and Eberle plus prospect Vladislav Firstov.

GM walker is happy to add the goal scoring machine that is Terry who is rounding out the season in the ichf prior to making the leap to the Cmhl next year. Eberle is also have a quietly good season and is expected to help out offensively next year as well. Firstov will be fun to watch when he finally turns pro.

The panthers in another move were approached by Anaheim who seemed to want to bolster their depth and inquired about Calvin De Hann. The offer was fair and after a little back and forth the panthers received Russian prospect Vladimir Tkachev and the experienced Jani Hakenpaa who is Ufa but will be tagged with a loyalty offer. Looking at his professional stats hakenpaa should be a very effective large bodies shut down dman with whomever he’s paired. Tkachev is a wild card but has some raw upside that if it pans out could make this trade a home run for walker.

In another minor deal Winnipeg came calling looking to bolster the mole men and inquired about Nick merkley.   After a few minutes it was agreed mike hardman would be the player coming the other way. A couple of picks were swapped but hardman could be a diamond i. The rough. He has posted 19-12=31 in 41 GP for the Rockford ice hogs this year in his first full pro season after joining the blackhawks last year after playing NCAA hockey with Boston college.

In an early deal with Carolina, walker picked up Max domi and a 5th in 24 for Dickinson and a 2nd in 23. Dickinson never seemed to click in Florida so Florida is viewing this as an upgrade. It’s highly likely that walker will be freezing the ratings on domi going into next year were he is tentatively penciled onto the third line alongside Marcus foligno and Colton Sissons.

Going back to March 20th, a beginning of the end of sorts in Florida was the trade of Marc Scheifele and Nolan Foote to Colorado for prospects Arthur Kaliyev and Mathew Knies along with Tyler Johnson. Johnson is performing admirably and is currently expected to complement the top 6 rather well next year.

As of right now the projected lineups in Sunrise Florida next year can go many ways but a current mock top 9 is as follows

C/W/W

Ryan johansen - Max Pacioretty - Troy Terry

Tyler Johnson - Jordan Eberle - Adrian Kempe

Colton Sissons - Marcus Foligno - Max Domi

This lineup could pretty much be thrown in a blender and any combination could be intimidating to play against.

But alas.   Until this occurs we have the reminder of the current season and playoffs plus off season to go. So to all the teams, let’s make this entertaining and fun for everyone and best of luck to all.

P.S. look out in the I.   The Millionairs are starting to make a thing of it and are only 6 points out of the playoffs although they have played 2 more games than the eighth place Detroit affiliate.

Good luck to the millionairs !!!
