Shame, Shame, Shame Written by Danny Gallivan - June 2nd, 2022

The last game of the season ended like too few had for the Montreal Canadiens … with a win, albeit in a shootout against the sad sack Los Angeles Kings.  Drake Caggiula scored the goal to send the team to the dressingroom happy, while Cory Schneider had to come in to relieve starter Louis Domingue.  It is very likely the last game for Schneider with Montreal and maybe even the CMHL, but atleast he gets to go out with a win.  Now the franchise waits for the Draft Lottery to see if they get a chance at Shane Wright (pictured).

As you’ve now come to realize, the result of the game didn’t make a big difference in the grand scheme of things, although it will be nice for the players to not enter the offseason with another loss on the scoresheet.

There will be changes in the offseason, but we’ll leave that for another day.  For now, the next interesting date on the calendar is the lottery for the CMHL Entry Draft. The Lotto Max this is not: there’s no Connor McDavid or Connor Bédard at the end of this tunnel.

For the non-playoff teams, a weighted draft lottery will take place using tankathon, determined by CMHL regular season standings. The winner of the draft lottery will move up 4 spots in the draft order.

In truth, in a draft without a clear-cut franchise-altering superstar, the benefit of finishing last is less about likely top pick Shane Wright and more about the guarantee that the Habs will draft either first or second. Even though this Draft doesn’t supposedly have a franchise altering player, it’s important to stock the cupboards which are very bare and if not Wright, then one of Logan Cooley, Simon Nemec, David Jiricek or Juraj Slafkovsky will probably be sporting bleu-blanc-rouge come Draft Day.

Sad sack L.A kings still don't understand why you would be trading the best player Connor Mcdavid in the next 16 years when you could just sign good UFA players and using your draft as a complement. FYI Dubois has reached 100 pts , Power forward Mantha with 80 pts, and Girard with 70+ points along with Kadri Nhl rerate still will have another 3 years at 3.5 million along with Chabot hitting around 65+ pts. This season it was meant to rebuild for the next 2 years so I'm please has farm my top players has responded pts wise. :) Written By: L.A gm (2022-06-03 20:23:57)
