Midseason Top 10 Mock Draft Written by StajanFan - November 30th, -0001
Almost halfway through the season, it is time to start looking toward next year for some teams, and and focusing on the Entry Draft. Here is my draft they I see it as of today:

1. St. Louis(Toronto) - Steven Stamkos - Clearly the number one pick, Stamkos is the most talented player in the draft and is a great all around package. With St. Louis being stuck near the bottom for the second consecutive season, Stamkos is just what the doctor ordered. He is the franchise centre they desperately need, and easily becomes their best prospect. Look for him to crack the Blues weak lineup as an 18 year old.

2. New Jersey - Drew Doughty - Tough for Marty and the Devils, as they clearly wanted Stamkos, but will settle for a franchise defenceman in Doughty. Between Doughty and Barker, the Devils powerplay will be set for a long time.

3. Edmonton(L.A.) - Alex Pietrangelo - With Patrick Kane taken last year, the Oilers knew from the start which way they would go. It was just who would they take? After heavy discussion between management and scouts, they feel Pietrangelo is the right player for them. Pietrangelo brings everything to the table as a player, and with his upside seeming endless, he could very well end being the best player from the draft.

4. New York Isles(NYR) - Kyle Beach - The Isles take the first risk of the draft and select talented forward Kyle Beach. His rumored attitued are a concern, and could run his entire career if not handled properly by hm and the Isles. But Moll knows what he is doing, and believes Beach is the next Getzlaf.

5. Philadelphia(STL) - Luke Schenn - Ecstatic the player they wanted falls to them, tetrault and the Flyers waste no time in selecting bluechip defenceman Luke Schenn. He is the franchise d-man they have been looking for sime time, and with Cherepanov and Perron take las year, the stable in Philly is now looking very promising.

6. Pittsburgh - Zach Boychuk - With the emergence of Tobias Enstrom, the Penguins pass on two highly touted defenceman, and take Zach Boychuk. Noted for his shot and stickhandling, Boychuk plays hard every game and is supertalented. Pittsburgh needs a offensive genius up front, and Boychuk delivers that.

7. Edmonton(ATL) - Zach Bogosian - With their second pick already in the draf, the Oilers have a lot of options here. They decide they cannot pass the talent in defence, and select Zach Bogosian. Bogosian played and earned his way to this high of pick, as he arguably outplayed every defenceman in the draft entriely. Scouts loved his combination of size, speed, and strength, and the Olers agreed.

8. Chicago(MTL) - Nikita Filatov - Chicago simply takes the most talented player available here in Filatov. The high flying Russian forward oozes skill and is arguably the most naturally talented player in the draft. Chicago is overjoyed when he is still at 8, and takes him in a heartbeat.

9. Atlanta(VAN) - Colton Teubert - Reminding them so much of Phaneuf, the Thrashers cannot pass up the player waiting for them in Teubert. He is a pillar of strength on the blueline, is known for the huge hit, and is an intimidating presence. Offensively he is good, has a hard shot, he could become great if he slows his passes to his teammates down.

10. New Jersey(COL) - Jordan Eberle - Still pissed they didn't get Stamkos, Marty puts his foot down and goes for the home run in Eberle. He is supertalented, maybe the fastest player in the top 10, with size being his only downfall. But since when has Marty ever cared about size?
