In the early 2000s, when the CMHL was just starting out, the flegling Tampa Bay Lightning hired Dave Normoyle as their General Manager. The new GM's basket wasn't exactly flush to the top with talent, so it did not take long for him to start reaching out to other GMs around the league.
As Normoyle went through various rosters looking to build his team, he kept coming back to a young up and coming blueliner in Calgary who really intriqued him. After putting a couple of potential offers together he reached out to Calgary GM Mark Graves to see if there was any interest. After a little back and forth, a deal was struck and 18 year old Mark Giordano joined the TB farm system.
The following season saw Gio called up early on, beginning an incredible career in te CMHL. The now 40 year old blueliner, and virtually guaranteed future CMHL Hall of Fame inductee, is signed for this season, with a potential option for next season as well, should the team and player agree!
