This summer was rich in emotion. the Islander won their first cmhl cup. A lot of player were still partying while the Gm was doing his job. A lot of player are gone from last years. The draft change our prospect base and we succeed in getting some top notch prospect.

The islander wasn't ready to won the cup this year. They wanted to make the playoff and go has gar has possible. When the team realize we had a chance to win it all everything change. During the year we accumulated a lot of pick for this upcoming draft. We know it would be a very dept draft and we succeed in drafting quality player.

With our 2 first round pick we took Jake Gardiner and Nicolas Deschamps (2 favorites of mine). I think they could develop into very important part of the Islander success.

Now that the draft is gone all the attention were on the free agent. We succeed to kept Pahlsson in our team and sign Vishnevski and Moen to new contract. We let go McGrattan and hope he will do well with is future team. When we saw the list of future UFA we decide to target some name. First of all was Steve Valiquette. He was exactly what we wanted for our farm team. He is a great goaltender that will teach JP Levasseur how be to play in this league.

We try too land big name free agent Scott Niedermayer and Mathieu Schneider. But those two ask for too many money for our budget. So we decide to acquire some farm team dept in Pesonen and Dingle. Those two are great scoring winger that could become CMHL players in the future.

During the summer a lot of player were trade and a lot of new face join our group. Frolov, Gordon, Ponikarovsky, Reinprecht, Orpik, Neil, Ladd, Pandolfo and Daley were trade away. New players like Perry, Gagne, Clowe, Moen, Ott, Kostopoulos, Rozsival and Hiller arrive in town.

I think change have been made for the team too be sure that they stay competitive for a long time. Change are not over has we target some quality player that could make our roster at the start of the season.
