Season 8 is now half completed and the Preds are sitting in 9th place after tonight's loss against the powerful Oilers. Even though Nashville's first 15 games were quite brutal (the team's record was 4-9-2, good for the 2nd last spot in the Western Conference), the team has only shown signs of improvment since then.

Since new GM Jay took over, we’ve already seen some changes. The acquisition of Marek Svatos, Kevin Bieksa and Darcy Hordichuk are only a few changes that were made to the team. Today, Jay decided the make another change but this time, it is the coaching staff that gets the hook.

After 4 consecutive years at the helm, GM Eddy Franchise finished last season by missing the playoffs for the first time. Prior to that, Nashville had always been a 5-8 team, never quite capable of elevating their game, but always good enough to make the playoffs. In April, it was decided that new blood was needed in Nashville and a former CMHL Stanley Cup Winner was brought in to lead the charge - GM Rye. Over the summer, Rye drastically altered the shape of this team, and now once again, he looks to make the playoffs, and get past the hurdle that every previous Nashville squad has stumbled on - making it past the quarter finals.
