Canucks start Season 7 with huge win over perennial powerhouse Columbus Blue Jackets.

Vancouver Canucks 7 - Columbus Blue Jackets 1
After falling in 5 games last playoffs to Columbus, the seven remaining players left on the Canucks roster from last season had this date circled on the calendar ever since the schedule was released. It was important to them to redeem themselves.
Redeem themselves, they did. After a shaky preseason going 2-3-3, it was unsure on how the Canucks would do against such a strong opponent.
Canucks GM had this to say: "I think we surprised a lot of people tonight, and I was one of them. I am very happy with how the team played, and how the goal scoring was spread out throughout the team. Hopefully, this wasn't a fluke and we can continue to play this strong all season."
It was the first game that the entire Canucks roster has played together.
The most pleasant surprise was 1st star Aaron Rome. Rome had a career game with 2 goals and 1 assist, not bad for a 3rd line defenseman. Stalberg had a very strong game with one goal and one assist, helping lead the very productive third line.
Other Notable Notes:
Aaron Rome scores 3 points in first career CMHL game.
Zach Bogosian records 1 assists for first career CMHL point, in his first CMHL game.
Ryan Miller stopped 26 of 27 shots and looked solid after a shaky preseason.
The Canucks were very undisciplined, but the PK bailed the team out by killing 9 of 10 penalties.
The discipline issue will be addressed very shortly.
