CMHL 2007 season underway
The 2007 season has started and boy do the big powerhouses get things rolling...
After the 1rst week mark, still early you might say, but the performances of
several teams didn't go unnoticed. Where the difference is being made obvious
has been the performances of the goaltenders. Many teams at the top of the
standings have to thank their masked players who are performing games after
games. And when the goaltenders don't shine as they should, the offenses are
taking care of the job.
On the other side of the coin, some teams are having difficulties. Some we
could have guessed and others as big disappointments...
Interesting detail is to see several teams make drastic changes so soon in
the season. In a frantic move to get up in the standings, some have dropped
their motivation of building for the future and others are trying to improve by adding great scorers...
With its surprises, flops and confirmations, this season is announcing itself
as one of the most promising of its long existence.
Team's short
Analysis at the end of the article.
Inside the Central Division...
A solid team of wingers... but the other positions could use
some polishing and depth. With no real 1rst line center and an average
defense,
Patrick Lalime will have to hold this team
on his shoulders... him and superstar
Paul Kariya.
The team to beat in my opinion. when their goalie has a rare bad
night the offense stands up. A contrario, when the likes of Lang, Richards,
Rolston, kapanen, Hemsky, or Hejduk have a day off, if ever possible, then
Jose Theodore takes care of it. definitely
a contender for this season. Oh and by the way, Eric Staal, Mikko koivu and
Chris Higgins just to name only those are waiting in their farm system...
With a squad of so much leadership, the wings will be dangerous
comes playoff time where they will definitely get to. Based with a solid defense
and goaltending, their lacks will come from the Left wing and the depth at
center.
Mariusz Czerkawski should lead this team
offensively... A good thing he's there...on the pro roster... because the farm
roster is long as the mouse can scroll... Semin, Kuba, Budaj... there they are
;)
Except for
Ed Jovanovski and
Alexei Zhamnov, the team is looking forward
to the future. At 20,
Alexander Radulov is the future star this
team is trying to build around. Trades should be flying in the blues town this
season to hope to be at the Stanley Cup concert for the mid future.
Nikolai Khabibulin,
Nicklas Lidstrom,
Jaromir Jagr,
Sidney Crosby... enough said. We still
can't figure how they managed to get that much talent in a team. Chemistry will
have to be found though to perform as they should.
This Division could easily be one of the best in the league.
Don't be surprised if one of them are seen at the finals this year... but this
is great pressure too and an early exit for them could mean troubles...
