A Look at the Progress of the 1st Round Prospects Written by Kookaranian - November 30th, -0001
I am going to look over all the first round selections of the season 1 entry draft and cover their performance this year in professional hockey. I hope this helps everyone keep informed as to how the prospects are doing in the ICHF and affect future trades.

Ryan Suter - 1st overall (CGY)
Skinny: The first overall pick has already cracked the Flames' defensive lineup. With 1 goal, 4 assists in 20 games with an even plus/minus, Suter is doing just fine for a rookie.
Stock: Stayed the same

Jeff Carter - 2nd overall (NJ)
Skinny: Playing on New Jersey's rookie filled team has not hampered Carter's performance in the CMHL. Already scoring 8 goals, 4 assists in 21 games for the last place team in the CMHL is not too shabby. He is third among goal scorers for the Devils.
Stock: Risen

Braydon Coburn - 3rd overall (VAN)
Skinny: Vancouver decided to keep Coburn in the ICHF for the time being with their already stacked CMHL roster. Coburn has 2 goals, 6 assists and is +6 in 25 games for Manitoba. He is not Manitoba's best defenseman, but still contributes greatly to their success.
Stock: Stayed the same

Rob Schremp - 4th overall (EDM)
Skinny: Edmonton wanted Schremp on their starting roster badly, but it may have been best to keep this highly touted prospect in the ICHF. With a decent 2 goals, 2 assists in 21 games, Schremp has not developed his defensive game and is -11, tied for worst on the Oilers.
Stock: Stayed the same, about to drop.

Ryan Getzlaf - 5th overall (CGY)
Skinny: Getzlaf is getting the job done in Chunichi. He is currently the team's top scorer and has an impressive +8 on one of the worst teams in the league. He has 7 goals, 9 assists in 23 games. Calgary made good choice in sending him to the ICHF, as he would probably not enjoy the same success in the CMHL.
Stock: Slightly risen

Lauri Tukonen - 6th overall (NYR)
Skinny: For being picked 6th overall in the draft, Tukonen has not lived up to expecations. However, he is expected to stay in the ICHF for at least a couple seasons to develop his game and bring out his huge potential. He has 4 goals, 4 assists in 23 games for Hartford with -2. He is definitely not one of the teams best, yet.
Stock: Slightly dropped

Stephen Dixon - 7th overall (MIN)
Skinny: Why did Buffalo pick this guy with the 7th overall pick? I think they realized the error of their ways because they quickly trade Dixon to Minnesota. In Houston, Dixon has only played 7 games, tallying 1 goal.
Stock: Dropped, but he was never highly touted to begin with.

Lukas Kaspar - 8th overall (NYI)
Skinny: A surprising pick for the first round, Kaspar has actually played well in Bridgeport. He is third on the team for points with 5 goals and 9 assists.
Stock: Risen

Andrei Kostsitsyn - 9th overall (CHI)
Skinny: This highly touted forward has gone straight to the CMHL and is opening eyes everywhere. Kostsitsyn is possibly the best pick this entry draft, and best rookie so far. Until he was injured playing in Chicago, he had 7 goals and 11 assists in 16 games! Absolutely amazing for a rookie. His health is the only thing holding him back from huge success in the CMHL.
Stock: Risen greatly

Rostislav Olesz - 10th overall (STL)
Skinny: Not enjoying much of anything in Moose Jaw. He only has 1 goal, 2 assists in 24 games on a decent team. Olesz may need a new home to see some points.
Stock: Dropped greatly

Alexander Radulov - 11th overall (BOS)
Skinny: Currently the top goal scorer in the Bruins' lineup with 8 and tied for first in points with 11. His future looks good in Boston.
Stock: Risen

Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers - 12th overall (STL)
Skinny: Becoming the starting goaltender for Moose Jaw may have been too much for the rookie. The backup has put up better numbers and Deslauriers' are less than impressive.
Stock: slightly dropped, but he must stay in ICHF for a while.

Mark Stuart - 13th overall (SJ)
Skinny: Playing decently in Kansas City, but not the team's best defenseman. With 1 goal, 3 assists, and and even plus/minus.
Stock: Stayed the same

Boris Valabik - 14th overall (PHX)
Skinny: Valabik is not doing well in Belfast. In fact, he is the team's worst player with 0 points, -8 in 22 games. Valabik needs a new home to help his career.
Stock: Dropped greatly

Patrick O'Sullivan - 15th overall (FLA)
Skinny: Expected to be among the best in the league, O'Sullivan is ranked 5th on his own team in scoring with 5 goals and 7 assists in 23 games. However, California is the worst team in the league, so O'Sullivan is doing fine under the circumstances.
Stock: Stayed the same

Alexander Steen - 16th overall (MIN)
Skinny: Steen was enjoying a good 10 games in Houston before he was called up to Minnesota. He had 4 goals and 2 assists in Houston, but only has 2 assists in 16 games for Minnesota with a horrid -11. Minnesota should really consider sending him back to Houston.
Stock: Rose in Houston, dropped in Minnesota

Anthony Stewart - 17th overall (OTT)
Skinny: The top scorer in Winnipeg, Stewart has been playing solid hockey. While expected to score a little more goals, Stewart leads Winnipeg in assists with 11.
Stock: Stayed the same, will rise when he scores more goals

Correy Perry - 18th overall (BUF)
Skinny: Playing decently in Laval, but not among the best on his team. Perry has 4 goals, 9 assists with a nice +7 on a good team.
Stock: Stayed the same

Mike Richards - 19th overall (BUF)
Skinny: Second on the team in scoring with 9 goals, 8 assists in 24 games. Highest plus/minus on the team with +7. Living up to expectations and more.
Stock: Rose slightly

Eric Fehr - 20th overall (NJ)
Skinny: Made the jump straight to the CMHL due to New Jersey's lack of better talent. However, he has fully adapted to the CMHL. Leads the Devils in scoring with 9 goals, 10 assists in 21 games with +7 on the worst team in the league. A Calder Trophy favorite.
Stock: Rose greatly

Brent Seabrook - 21st overall (CAR)
Skinny: Played 13 games for the Hurricanes before getting injured. Tallied 5 assists and +2, showing he has what it takes to play in the CMHL.
Stock: Rose slightly

Dustin Brown - 22nd overall (WSH)
Skinny: Brown is unable to produce on a clearly talented team. With only 2 goals, 1 assist, and -13 in 23 games, Brown should be sent back down to ICHF to recover some confidence and get more playing time.
Stock: Dropped

Ryan Whitney - 23rd overall (LA)
Skinny: The 2nd best defenseman on Rimouski at the moment, but that doesn't say much as Rimouski is struggling. Whitney has 1 goal, 12 assists in 26 games with only -1.
Stock: Stayed the same

Wojtek Wolski - 24th overall (PIT)
Skinny: In 23 games, Wolski has 8 goals, 7 assists, and +8. He is 2nd is scoring and leads in plus/minus for Djurgardens.
Stock: Slightly Rose

Andrej Meszaros - 25th overall (BOS)
Skinny: Meszaros is clearly not ready for the CMHL. He has the lowest plus/minus on the Bruins with -10. Being an offensive defenseman, he only has 4 assists in 22 games. He should have spent the entire season in the ICHF.
Stock: Dropped

Drew Stafford - 26th overall (EDM)
Skinny: Stafford is showing he can play great defensive hockey in the ICHF for Edmonton. Even though he only has 3 goals in 25 games, Stafford leads his team with +10. His offense needs to improve, though.
Stock: Stayed the same

Maxime Talbot - 27th overall (ATL)
Skinny: Many wondered why Atlanta would draft Talbot with their first round selection. But Atlanta knew exactly what they were doing. Talbot is now one of the best producing first round selections with 13 goals, 12 assists, and +17 in 26 games in Quebec. He is definitely doing much better than any ever expected.
Stock: Rose Tremendously

Keith Ballard - 28th overall (MTL)
Skinny: By far the best defenseman in Hamilton, Ballard has an impressive stats sheet with 5 goals, 12 assists, and +10.
Stock: Rose

Shea Weber - 29th overall (BUF)
Skinny: He has yet to show his offensive flair, but still plays a decent game. He may need to spend another year in the ICHF until his offense can start up.
Stock: Stayed the same, may drop slightly

Shawn Belle - 30th overall (BUF)
Skinny: With 4 goals and 8 assists in 24 games, Belle has shown he can score goals from the blue line.
Stock: Rose slightly
