Well the season is getting to its stretch ride, and the Sharks are a position that theyve never been since Dan took over 3 years ago: Missing the playoffs. However there is a world of optimism as the team is entrenched in a rebuild that was much needed.
Here is a brief look into the teams situation
2009 Picks : BUF 1, EDM 1, WAS 2, ATL 2 , BUF 3, CMB 4, EDM 5, CGY 5, PHI 5, TOR 6, MTL 6, STL 6, DAL 7, NJD 7, MTL 7, SJ 7, MIN 7, OTT 7, TOR 7
2010 Picks : CAR 2, SJ 3, MTL 3, CHI 3, CGY 3, VAN 3, TB 3, EDM 3, SJ 4, DAL 4, LA 4, TOR 4, TOR 5, SJ 5, MTL 5, CGY 5, VAN 5, MIN 6, MTL 6, SJ 6, TB 6, TOR 6, SJ 7, TB 7, NYI 7, DAL 7
As you can see the Sharks are doing very well in the pick department. Having 2 1sts and 2 2nds in the best draft in years is key for the teams rebuild, and in 2010 the team should be able to acquire a 1st.
Now we will take a look at the sharks prospect list :
Jamie Benn(07), Colten Teubert(08), Cody Almond(07), Colin Long(08), Tyler Myers(08), Jordan Bendfeld(08), Ondrej Roman(07), Ryan Watson(07), Mike Murphy(08), Samuel Morneau(08) and Philip McRae(08). There are a couple decent prospects on the farm team, but in that regard the team is pretty weak and will rely on picks to help that out.
Next Area is the NHL rerateable players and the Sharks are doing very well in that regard. Heres a breakdown of what they have in each position
