Part 8 and 9 of 82
Well, two thirds down our away-away-home series with the Jets. Yup, that’s right we play the same team three games in a row. It might actually be a good thing as we are now on a three game winning streak having won the first to games in Winnipeg. The shots over the two games were fairly close with us having a slight edge at 71 to 66, and outscoring the Jets 8-5.
We had three players get three points over the two games; Blake Wheeler (2g 1a) Taylor Hall (2g 1a) and Wade Redden (3a). We’ve seen production drop off in the case of both Logan Couture and Bobby Butler, who went pointless in the last two games. We will either mix up the lines or sent them for a conditioning stint in the minors.
We split the games between both Goalies with Rask letting in 2 goals on 22 shots (.909) and Lundqvist stopped an impressive 40 of 43 (.940) Because it’s three games in three nights we will go back to Rask but have still yet to name a starter for this year and it looks like both goalies will get equal playing time.
Matt Walker has kept up his physical play but is finding himself in the penalty box a little too often. We have a rule where if your PIM’s are higher then your hit total, you will be a healthy scratch. Walker scrapped by in the last game getting 5 minor penalties or 10PIM’s but notching 11 hits.
Changes for next game:
Richardson to center Butler and Wheeler
Farm Notes:
Both Games 3-2
No player registered more then two points over the course of the two games.
