Tre Kronor Selects Two Habs Written by Brian McFarlane - December 7th, 2022

Earlier today, Team Sweden announced their World Junior roster.

The Montreal Canadiens won’t have a lot of representation from their prospect pool at this year’s World Junior Championship, but Team Sweden was their best bet to have multiple prospects playing in the tournament.

Sweden’s announcement of their roster includes prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki (pictured) and Fabian Wagner.  The Habs selected the center-right wing with their second pick in the first round (sixth overall).

There are still some questions about Lekkerimaki’s health status, given that he suffered a concussion on November 26th and has not returned to action since leaving his Allsvenskan game less than two weeks ago.

We were told that Lekkerimaki was recovering well from his head injury but there should still be concern about him being fully healthy as camp approaches.

Fabian Wagner, is also a center/right winger tapped to play for Sweden.  Montreal nabbed him in the sixth round (183rd overall).  He’s doing well with Linkoping’s J20 group (15gp, 5-5-10), but remains scoreless with their SHL team in 15 games.
